Located just 10km from the world heritage listed Fraser Island, Hervey Bay offers beautiful, remote, protected boating. Very limited swell reaches the bay- meaning there is around 50km of pristine sandy beach that can be accessed for a picnic, lunch or just a run on the beach for the kids. Chances are you won't even see another footprint in the sand.
Water temps rarely fall below 19°C perfect for water sports year round! With the white sands of Fraser Island in the background of your posts, you will be the envy of all your Facebook followers.
If you prefer to stay in the boat the fishing will have you entertained. Mackerel schools can create mayhem in the boat with multiple hook-ups a frequent occurrence as they chase the bait schools from November through to January. As the Mackerel thin out large schools of Tuna move into the bay February through April, these can create bust-ups the size of a football field! Snapper and Winter Whiting can be found during the cooler months. November-December brings the run of juvenile Black Marlin that can be caught in just meters of water, the Marlin run is becoming more and more popular each year, our centre cab broke into this last year with its first fish landed!
Hervey Bay is known for the whales, each year from late July through to October we are lucky enough to have hundreds of whales take up residency in our protected waters. It's hard NOT to spot a whale during this time, watching these animals without the crowds is an experience not to be missed.
